Where is our joy located? It’s an odd question. Perhaps you think joy is in your heart, or maybe you experience joy as a state of mind.


It turns out, according to scientists, joy originates in the limbic system of the brain—the part of the brain that controls emotion, behavior, and long-term memory. Unlike happiness, which is a cognitive experience based in the brain’s neocortex, joy is an emotion we feel without conscious thought. We feel joy without thinking about it, and we can train our brains to feel it often.


EMOTIONS ARE HABITUAL


Just like any repetitive action, our emotional state becomes a habit. For most of my life, my emotional habit was some version of fear. From the time I was a small child, I was a perpetual worrier. I have a vivid memory of being 4 years old in a restaurant with my mom and her then-boyfriend, who happened to be a professional clown. The clown was entertain-ing, the meal was my favorite, but I couldn’t stop worrying about everything.


“Just relax, Kaia!” my mom implored me. “I’m trying as hard as I can!” I wailed. This is the story of my life. Although my outside often looked like the Garden of Eden, my inside often felt like Armageddon.


YOUR BRAIN ON FEAR


Our amygdala, the fear center in our brains, responds to perceived stress with the primal reactions of fight, flight, and freeze. When the amygdala is active, to be sure we have all the brain power we need to carry out this instinctual response, it limits activity in the prefrontal cortex, which happens to be where logical thought, clear decisions, and rational choices are generated. We simply can’t do our best thinking and best problem solving when we’re in a state of fear.


Fear also turns on the sympathetic nervous system—the body’s project manager for the fight-or-flight response—which releases hormones, such as adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol, to pump us up for battle. The sympathetic nervous system accelerates our heart rate, increases blood pressure, slows digestion, constricts blood vessels, dilates the pupils, and can cause tunnel vision, shaking, and a number of other physical symptoms.


Our bodies are incredible mechanisms with systems like this in place to help us stay safe, which is wonderful when we’re in danger. But here’s the catch: We can’t sustain high levels of fear for too long before our adrenal glands become depleted, our cells deteriorate from an

overabundance of cortisol, and we become exhausted and sick.


THE JOY PLAN


I finally hit rock bottom shortly before my 40th birthday. I’d been making plans since I could talk, but I found myself examining what the

point of all my planning really was. Ultimately, I simply wanted joy and, despite appearances, I rarely felt it. I knew I needed to break free from the grip of fear which had held me most of my life. So I made my ultimate plan: The Joy Plan, dedicating 30 days to the singular task of rewiring my brain to generate joy—in the hope that one month would change my entire life.


Although I’d read books and blogs for years that told me to “relax,” “think positive,” “stay calm,” “don’t worry, be happy,” I still had no idea

how to actually do that. So when I took the Joy Plan on as a full-fl edged science experiment, I became determined to utilize the neurobiology behind the experience of joy to my advantage.


What I found, to my delight, was that 30 days is long enough to form new habits, and the most important new habits boiled down to five easy daily actions. You don’t even need to set aside a whole month to give them a try.


Like healthy eating, joy is a habit we must practice regularly in order to reap the bene-fits. By intentionally practicing thinking new thoughts, speaking new words, and taking new actions, I changed my experience of life. I am not happy all the time, but that’s not the point. I’ve finally figured out how to live in joy.


Five Daily Actions to Boost Your Joy


1. FOCUS ON GRATITUDE: The fastest way to generate joy is to focus on things you appreciate. Every day, make a list, even if it’s

in your head, of things for which you’re grateful. Feelings of gratitude release dopamine, a feel-good neurotransmitter in the

brain. When you bathe your brain in this chemical experience, you’ll predispose yourself for more.


2. PRACTICE MINDFULNESS:  Mindfulness is simply the act of bringing your awareness to the present moment. Deep breaths calm

the brain’s amygdala and train your brain and body to remain calm in the midst of swirling thoughts and emotions. With even a short

daily practice, mindfulness can alter your brain in profound ways.


3. BOOST HAPPY HORMONES:  Four main neurochemicals generated in the brain are highly influential to the sensations we’ve come to associate with joy: endorphins, serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin. The good news is these neurochemicals are easy to influence through daily actions, such as exercise, spending time outdoors, smiling more often, and giving hugs.


4. CHOOSE OPTIMISM:  Thanks to the process of neuroplasticity, our brains develop neural pathways like well-worn highways they

travel on regularly because they’re familiar. By choosing positive thoughts, words and actions at every opportunity—focusing on

solutions rather than problems—you’re training your brain to form neural pathways for optimism, which is associated with greater joy.


5. GIVE TO OTHERS: Giving is an excellent way to generate joy. Acts of kindness release dopamine, for both the giver and the receiver. You can receive these feel-good benefits from giving something as small as a smile or a compliment, or as large as you can imagine.

The Lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs that help rid the body of toxins, waste and other unwanted materials. Imagine the tissues of your body oozing these toxins, someone has the job of absorbing the debris and moving it out. The Lymphatic system is a network of very small tubes (vessels) that drain Lymph fluid from all over the body. There are 600 to 700 Lymph nodes in the human body, containing 45 pints of Lymph fluid. To put that into perspective, your blood system contains about 10 12 pints and contains a great pump the heart. The Lymphatic system has no such pump. Think of these little nodes as tiny toilets. The only way the tiny nodes flush is when you are moving. Using a Vibration System or jumping on a trampoline is a great way to get the "toilets" to flush. The primary function of the Lymphatic system is to transport Lymph, a fluid containing infection fighting white blood cells, throughout the body. The Lymphatic system has multiple interrelated functions: It is responsible for the removal of interstitial fluid (old gunk) from tissues. You may have a lymphatic blockage if you have any of the following symptoms: Swelling in hands, feet, & ankles (not limited to those areas) Water retention Muscle & joint stiffness (especially when you first wake up) Fibromyalgia Itchy skin Sore throat Fatigue Cellulite Glandular fever Hodgkin's disease Oedema/Edema Tonsillitis Swollen Lymph Nodes can feel like you have a knot or bulge where the Lymph Node has gotten stagnant. Every dis-ease is essentially an inflammation issue. Toxins Create Inflammation. Getting rid of toxins is job one. Your problem is you have been pooping in your pelvis. The average person packs an extra 12-15 Lbs of old rotting fecal matter in their colon. This is bad for many reasons. That rotting mess has to go somewhere and if its not straight out then it will saturate the tissues of the colon wall. As more poop build up occurs in the colon, less blood flows to the hip. When the poop is not exiting on a regular basis your body just keeps pushing it into the tissue. This causes the blood to get turbid and dirty and the Lymphatic is now laden with this toxic material. You get calcification and crystallization and scar tissue in the sciatica. You think you have a Low back or hip problem. At the root of it you have a pooping problem. If you were to look inside the colon you would see a big pooched out area holding a mass of fecal matter. Your chiropractor with adjust your sciatica. But the sciatica is not the problem. The sciatica is out of joint because of the putrefaction of the colon. Leaked infection into the bloodstream into the tissues, creating infection, inflammation. Its like putting a burger on a barbecue. You dehydrate it and it became beef jerky and it shrinks. So the tendon and the muscle shrinks shorter and gets thinner. Now your body is out of alignment. When you continue to “poop in your pelvis”, You have so much inflammation you pull calcium from the bones, from your spine and from your hips to try to buffer down the infections that created the h inflammation so you don’t have a mutation. Calcium is trying to bring up the pH so that you don’t get cancer. Which hip usually goes bad first??? The right hip. The small intestine drops digested food into the right side of the large colon. Now the digested matter has to go against gravity up the right side and then across the transfer colon. Its not unusual of for this area of the colon to get as big as 16” in diameter. Are you having the right Stool? The one organ that can really makes your life miserable is your intestinal tract. How well you poop is directly correlated to how well you live. Many of the symptoms you may be having are reflective of whether you have proper bowel movements. Thanks to stress you may not be having proper bowel movements. The straight scoop on the perfect poop? You want to have a #3 every time you go. Frequency should be 2-3 bowel movements a day. If you eat you should poop. Baby boomers now fear memory loss more than cancer, and indeed they should. Decades of contact with heavy metals and the hundreds of thousands of people who have had mercury fillings is a cause for great concern. Cancer you can heal from, memory loss I am not so sure. It’s sad to see a loved one slowly lose their memory. The cost of dealing with the future loss of memory is going to run into the hundreds of Billions of dollars. For our family we spent nearly $140,000 taking care of grandmother before she passed. That was cheap. Grandmother went fast. This didn’t include the near miss catastrophe of the shysters who called her and asked for her for banking information so she could pay a past due bill. Grandmother not remembering that she never contracted for such service was ready to hand over her banking information before the housekeeper overheard the conversation and quickly hung up the phone for grandmother. This doesn’t have to be you. There are some very basic things you can do to help avoid memory loss. If you have mercury fillings get them removed as soon as possible. It’s in the air from the cement plant located near Baker Oregon. It is in Fish. Your body stores it. Mercury is the only heavy metals that degenerate’s brain neurons. We have multiple exposures daily to heavy metals. Just look outside at our air. I believe that doing the following steps can help to possibly prevent memory loss. Complete a heavy Metals cleanse. Take Chlorella and Metal Free. Both help the body to eliminate heavy metals. Do a series of Colonics to help flush the toxins out. Keep electromagnetic Fields, to a minimum. Use a headset or speaker phone for your cell phone. Do not sleep with an electric blanket. Stay away from microwaves. Do: Eat plenty of foods high in antioxidants. Do drink water first thing in the morning. Think of water as brain food. Drinking coffee first thing is not helping you. Drink water first. Take Bioginko.
